My Grandma was Libby LaPoint Pope. My dad was her son Stuart, and Grandma and Grandpa lived with us. I loved her dearly, and spent a lot of time with her. She died when I was 11. I am going to VT to visit a childhood friend this fall, and thought of going to Grand Isle. So I started doing some research- I have some old pictures, including the ones Ron put in the family history, and have one of Paula LaPoint, my great-great grandmother, but didn't know her husband's first name, which hampered my research. I am going down to Waupaca to the historical society today to look through their papers, but went online again first. Stumbling on this website was like winning the lottery! Second cousin Ron, Thank you, thank you!!

Ray, I was directed to your Zhengzhou account from a guitar forum. That whole ordeal was one of the most simultaneously heartbreaking and inspiring things that I have read that wasn't already a book in a long time. The questions it made me ask, the assumptions of mine that it challenged... I can't thank everyone who was a part of this story enough. I feel a bit guilty as though I have been given a little bit of each of your souls for free. I can't promise that I'll remember all of it in a few years time (or even next month the way my memory is falling apart), but it has contributed to my hope, and it has impacted the way I view cultural differences. In many ways, it hsa given faces to a lot of unspoken arguments and questions which haunt me. Thank you all. Love and blessings to you all. I hope that there is a design behind it all.

I have many fond memories of Aunt Mabel, Aunt Madge and Grandma Julissa. Julissa

Teraz ta wies nazywa sie Plawno i lezy w powiecie Choszczno, czyli w województwie zachodniopomorskim (Szczecin - Polska). Nie jest to zbyt wielka miejscowosc. Bardzo chetnie przesle fotografie stamtad. Samego Arnswalde czyli Choszczna takze. Pozdrawiam Elzbieta Lipinska

Oh, the humiliation. I directed several of my Chinese students to "my" website and they found the link. Gu Ning Jing's question concerning the six men in the pool was: "Which one of you is the father?"

What a treasure it is to pass information on to our kids. To have them know the characteristics, the physical features and the pure history of where they came from. Thank you Doug for your enormous effort, but also to all of those who contribute .... it is a touch of love that truly makes us all "family."

Doug, don't know why I didn't discover this before. I got Dani's e-mail about the reunion shirts and then connected to this. Wonderful site. It's fun to show my boys. I got hooked up to your/Pascale's site as well. I loved it. Thanks for doing all this and sharing it with us.
